Es’hailSat-2 ready for commercial service

Qatar’s second satellite, Es’hailSat-2, has entered commercial service providing broadcast, broadband and other communications services across the Middle East and North Africa.

Located at 26 degrees East, Esh’ailSat- 2 is located beside Es’hailSat-1 at 25.5 degrees East, and offers both Ka-band spot beams and Ku-band wide beams.

Built by Mitsubishi Electric Company (MELCO), Es’hail-2 was launched by Space X aboard a Falcon 9 rocket in November 2018 . The spacecraft has a design life of 16 years or more.

The satellite is intended to support the growth of25.5 degrees East / 26 degrees East broadcast neighbourhood. It features multi-transponder Ka-band payload with sophisticated anti-jamming capabilities providing business and government sectors with secure communications across MENA.
