EstrellaTV’s local Miami station WGEN-8 has celebrated its first-year anniversary with a spike in ratings.

Like its Spanish-language broadcasting parent network , WGEN Estrella 8 has experienced growth in ratings and ad sales revenue over the last 12 months. It has built a local sales team, led by broadcasting veteran Nicolas Valls, general manager.

In the past year, WGEN-8 has added local accounts in various industries, such as automotive, health plans and clinics, insurance companies, travel agencies, law offices and concert promoters; on the national ad clients’ side, the station has also successfully secured key regional banks and retailers, as well as automotive, insurance companies, quick service restaurants, regional supermarkets and national retailers.

“Our commitment to serve the South Florida market is stronger than ever,” said Valls. “We continue to raise our market presence via extensive tune in campaigns and have been very successful in developing innovative brand integration campaigns for our local advertisers to amplify and differentiate their brand messaging to our viewers. As we reach our first-year milestone, we are excited to announce the launch of our local WGEN-8 newscasts, which will not only increase our viewership in the South Florida area, but will give Miami Hispanics a vibrant news product designed and produced specifically for them.”
