In what it says will strengthen its position as the market leader in the online video industry, video cloud services provider Brightcove has closed its acquisition of the online video platform business of Ooyala.
First announced in February 2019, Brightcove has bought, including video content management and publishing platforms Backlot, Analytics, Live, and the company’s underlying IP and associated patents. In recent months, Ooyala has signed numerous clients for its core Ooyala Flex Media Platform, including HBO, Turner, PPC, LFP among others. All are said to have seen reduced time-to-market and significantly increased ROI since deploying Ooyala’s advanced workflow and media-asset-management solutions.
“This is an exciting time for the company as we integrate Ooyala’s OVP business into Brightcove. We are thrilled to welcome Ooyala’s OVP customers to the family,” said Brightcove CEO Jeff Ray. “The addition of our new team members further positions Brightcove to accelerate our speed of innovation and provide deeper support for all of our customers. We are living in the age of video and are 100% committed to ensuring that our customers reap the power and value of video technology to help propel their businesses forward.”
“With this transaction, Ooyala’s sole focus is to continue delivering the best advanced workflows in the market today with our Flex Media Platform,” added Ooyala CEO Jonathan Huberman. “Flex delivers real value to all our customers including the world’s leading film and TV studios, networks, broadcasters and media companies, which in turn is driving our business growth to over 100% annually.”
