On the heels of launches in Thailand and the Maldives, NBCUniversal International Networks has furthered its reach in Asia with the introduction of two new DreamWorks branded blocks in Hong Kong.
The dedicated DreamWorks branded blocks will now run on the free-to-air English channel, Hong Kong International Business Channel (HKIBC) and Cantonese pay-TV channel, i-CABLE Children Channel.
The dedicated block on HKIBC allows viewers to enjoy their favourite DreamWorks titles during the early evening on weekdays from 17:00–17:30 then from 29 April DreamWorks will extend the block to one hour of programming from 17:00–18:00 each weekday. Titles in the block include Noddy Toyland Detective, Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Postman Pat Special Delivery Service and Guess with Jess.
The DreamWorks branded block on i-CABLE Children Channel will begin on 1 July during weekdays from 10.00. Available on the i-CABLE Chinese Entry Pack, viewers will be able to catch the same DreamWorks titles offered on HKIBC but also in Cantonese. DreamWorks is already available on i-CABLE Smart Kids package where viewers can enjoy 24-hours of DreamWorks’ award-winning content.
“Following the well-received launch of DreamWorks 24-hour programming on i-CABLE’s pay-TV platform, we are thrilled to be launching two DreamWorks branded blocks to bring even more of DreamWorks’ quality family entertainment into households across Hong Kong,” remarked Christine Fellowes, managing director, NBCUniversal International Networks, Asia Pacific. “With DreamWorks titles available in both English and Cantonese language options, our viewers in Hong Kong – no matter their language preference – will be delighted with the curated offerings on the DreamWorks block.”
“We are excited by the new carriage arrangement with DreamWorks, which has won wide-acclaim from Hong Kong viewers,” added Irene Leung Shuk-yee, chief operating officer of i-CABLE Communications. “With this new partnership with DreamWorks, our family viewers in particular, will have even more access to high quality programming and popular family entertainment with educational values. The acquisition gives both DreamWorks and i-CABLE broader reach to a host of new viewers in the highly competitive kids and family entertainment space.”
