DD Free Dish to carry Bangladesh TV in India

India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has made a receprical agreement with Bangladesh TV to carry the channel on its DD Free Dish direct-to-home (DTH) satellite platform.

A Doordarshan channel will be carried from India on a soon-to-be launched DTH platform in Bangladesh in return.

Prasar Bharati has waived the carriage fees for Bangladesh TV on DD Freedish.

The agreement was announced during a meeting between Indian officials and a delegation from Bangladesh led by Dr Gowher Rizvi, adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, at India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry.

The meeting also discussed the co-production of a feature film on the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, announced earlier by the Indian and Bangladeshi Prime Ministers. The movie will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Shri Shyam Benegal and written by Atul Tiwari.

Cooperation between radio networks All India Radio and Bangladesh Betar was also agreed by the two nations, starting from June 2019.
