On-demand content services and processing company ODMedia has launched in the UK aiming to offer a suite of commercial and technical services designed to help IP-owners to optimise content exploitation and distribution to both local and global platforms.

Netherlands-based ODMedia Group offers a 360-degree package of video-content services, from content aggregation, multi-channel network (MCN) services, delivery to OTT platforms and broadcasters. The company is going through a period of rapid expansion and in 2018 its turnover surged by 20% year-on-year, driven by its growing network of European offices. In the last 12 months, ODMedia has opened subsidiaries in Belgium, Scandinavia and Spain, with a German launch planned for later this year.

ODMedia has strategic partnerships with global OTT platforms and has been awarded ‘preferred partner’ status by iTunes and is a Netflix Preferred Fulfilment Partner. In addition to offering technical-delivery services, ODMedia acts as an aggregator for the major platforms, providing digital-rights management, monetisation, target audience development and cross-promotion. It also manages linear and non-linear channel playout for SVOD, AVOD and TVOD.

The new ODMediaUK will be led by media entertainment management consultancy Media Minds, headed by ex-Visual Data executives Anita O’Donnell and Yives Reed (pictured). O’Donnell and Reed launched Media Minds in early 2018, with the mission of bridging the gap between technology and content, people and platforms, and providing IP-owners with the intelligence, strategy and expertise to exploit their content in the fast-moving digital-processing and distribution marketplace.

“Anita and I have been on the sharp edge of content-processing and distribution for almost 20 years, so we know when we see an impressive team and organisation,” remarked Media Minds co-founder Yives Reed. “ODMedia is that...it’s also a company that sees its relationship with clients as a true partnership firstly on a commercial level leveraging IP to maximise revenue and secondly by providing best in class customer service.”

ODMedia Group CEO Sjef Pijnenburg added: ‘The digital distribution market is globalising. We need to access local markets to assist rights holders with their global release strategy. I am extremely pleased to have Yives and Anita on board. Our rapid growth and strategic plans for global rollout can only be managed successfully with key professionals like them.”
