Digital distribution house Digital Media Rights (DMR), one of the largest buyers of Pan-Asian programming in North America, has inked a licensing deal with China Lion for a slate of nine feature films theatrically released from 2016 to the present.

Among those releases, which will premiere on DMR’s OTT channels, AsianCrush, Midnight Pulp and Yuyu TV, are the 2017 Taiwanese drama The Gangster’s Daughter; Last Letter, a 2018 melodrama from director Shunji Iwai; and a high concept dramedy, Shed Skin Papa, starring Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actor recipient, Louis Koo Tin-Lok.

“As one of China’s leading film distributors, China Lion has a long track record of international success,” said John Stack, manager, Acquisition & Programming, DMR. “As the premiere distributor of Pan-Asian programmes in North America, we’re proud to add their films to our curated and growing digital catalogue.”

"Our close association with Digital Media Rights has allowed the world to discover great new talents coming out of China and we're glad to see that continue with this selection of some of our major releases,” said China Lion CEO and president Jiang Yanming. “The stories told by Chinese filmmakers are evolving and growing and we couldn't be more excited by this great outlet available to North American audiences."
