Keeping up its flurry of activity over the last few weeks, leading Philippines media and entertainment company ABS-CBN has implemented a new infrastructure for news workflow while closing an acquisition deal for one of its hit narrative drama formats.

Looking at infrastructure, ABS-CBN Corporation has deployed Dalet Unified News Operations — powered by the Dalet Galaxy five media asset management (MAM), workflow orchestration and editorial platform — at its regional Cebu City station.

The turnkey news solution is designed to enable the broadcaster to break news faster and offers the ability to expand to support multi-site workflows. Functionality includes agency wire acquisition, collaborative planning, script editing, notifications and approval processes, rundown and graphics management with full timing control, and many other features.

“Previously, we had no studio automation at our Cebu City station and were laying programs to tape for playout with no ability to save news programmes. We needed to move to a solution that would automate our workflows, better support our social channels and enable future expansion,” explained ABS-CBN Cebu station head Leilani Alba. “Backed by ten years’ of trust and collaboration with Dalet we knew we could rely on its proven technology and professional services for this important project. With Dalet, we have transformed and simplified our operations by moving to a single solution that manages the end-to-end production and playout of news. We are already seeing the value of our assets increase by being able to track and gather metadata at all points across the news story development.”

In its new acquisition deal, the network’s top-rating programme Now and Forever (Ngayon at Kailanman) will begin airing on Myanmar pay-TV service Sky Net's International Drama Channel from 24 June. The drama-romance series features young, star-crossed lovers who fight for their love against insurmountable circumstances. During its run on Philippine TV remained as one of the most watched programmes in the Philippines until it wrapped up in January 2019. Now and Forever will either be dubbed or subtitled in Burmese on Sky Net.
