QVC Japan taps Skyline for infrastructure management

The Japanese branch of shopping channel QVC has chosen Skyline Communications’ AI-powered DataMiner network management and orchestration platform.

The DataMiner system which sees use at QVC Japan in Makuhari is an end-to-end management platform deployed across all areas of the broadcaster’s in-house production infrastructure. The facility recently underwent a transformation, both with the migration from HD to 4K and from SDI to IP.

With the DataMiner system in place, already successfully deployed at other facilities of the QVC family, QVC Japan can now manage its multi-vendor facility through a single interface.

Driven by the fact that its viewers were quickly adopting UHD television, QVC Japan’s needed to reshape its entire organisation in order to be able to produce 4K content. The aim was to comply fully with the SMPTE ST 2110 standard for the delivery of uncompressed video, audio and metadata over IP networks, ensuring interoperability across QVC Japan’s entire ecosystem.
