Indian music network 9X Media is celebrating World Music Day on 21 June with a smashup of Indian and international songs, to be aired across its five music TV channels and with its digital community.
Created by DJ Rink, World Music day special Smashup features songs from Bollywood such as Aaank Mare to popular international songs like Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. “From the most popular Marathi song Zhingat to the Punjabi chart buster Lamberghini; this Smashup is all set to rule the music charts across India,” 9X Media claimed in a statement.
“Being India’s largest Music Network, 9X Media has always entertained music lovers with World
Music Day specials. From our original songs like Bajne Do Night & Day to Music Dil Mein, the viewers have appreciated our music offering,” said Amar Tidke, chief programming officer 9X Media.
“We love to celebrate music and this World Music Day we hope to make it a lot more special for everyone! The World Music day Smashup will also resonate with our viewers and we are confident that the Smashup will soon become the party anthem. We would like to thank all our label partners who have come forward in support of this unique innovation.”
The Smashup’s video features animated characters from the 9X Media network. Besides Bade Chote, Chochya, Ullu da Pattha, the video will also star Bheegi Billi and Halkat & Sawaal.
9X Media operates a bouquet of six music channels - 9XM (latest Bollywood hits), 9X Jalwa (Evergreen Hindi), 9X Bajao (Hindi Classics), 9XO (English), 9X Jhakaas (Marathi music), and 9X Tashan (Punjabi music). It also has a digital platform SpotboyE, offering Bollywood news and gossip.
Last March, **Zee Enterprise Entertainment called off its acquisition of 9X Media and its subsidiary INX Music. The proposed deal announced in October 2017 after another takeover attempt - this time by Sony Pictures Networks India - had fallen through.
