London and Barcelona-based boutique factual indie distributor Limonero Films is working with UK/Singapore- production company Make Waves Media to distribute the Channel 5 commission Edwardian Britain in Colour.
To be presented at the Sunny Side of the Doc marketplace, the 2 x 60’ programme shows the UK as the twentieth century dawned, the richest and most powerful country in the world. But what did this mean for the men, women and children hard at work in the mills and the mines? It offers rare film footage, restored and colourised to provide a window into how everyday Edwardians lived, worked and socialised.
“This title is a pleasure trip down history lane. Emotional, educational and entertaining,” said Limonero managing director Pamela Martínez Martínez. “This is our third collaboration with Make Waves, and I´m delighted to be representing it internationally. With a total of 2.3 million spectators in the UK, I´m sure it will do just as well worldwide.”
Make Waves Media director Sian Kevill added: ‘We are thrilled to be working with Limonero Films again on this new series. We have used cutting edge colourisation techniques, to make history into something very human again. The colour makes you notice tiny things you hadn’t seen before – faces, clothes, expressions. This series opens a door and lets you step into a lost world.’
