ds-off, live and on-demand streaming service DAZN, has secured the exclusive broadcast rights for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2019 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in multiple markets.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2019 is already underway and sees the American continent top teams face off and stars Lionel Messi, almost single-handedly driving Argentina, as well as Uruguay’s Luis Suárez and recent Champions League winners Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker of Brazil. DAZN will stream the action to customers in Germany, Austria and Brazil. The deal includes exclusive live broadcast rights and non-exclusive highlights, with coverage culminating on 7 July.
Yet what may be the biggest draw is total coverage in the same countries of the Africa’s biggest international football tournament, the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Fans will be able to watch some of football’s biggest names including global superstar Mohamed Salah (pictured) and Sadio Mané fresh from their own Champions League victory with Liverpool compete for host nation Egypt and Senegal respectively. Action started with Salah leading the Pharaohs to victory against Zimbabwe and the final takes place on 19 July.
Commenting on the latest deals which come just after the service provider was awarded the broadcast TV rights to Major League Soccer (MLS) in six international markets, DAZN Group chief commercial officer Jacopo Tonoli said: “DAZN’s portfolio of premium football rights continues to grow and we’re bringing the best of international football to fans around the world. Now fans in these markets can watch the biggest action from the Africa Cup of Nations as well as the Gold Cup anytime, on any device, as part of DAZN’s vision to make sport affordable and accessible for all.”
