An active user base of 100 million viewers was reached as India took on Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup on 16 June by Indian digital video platform Hotstar.

A concurrency 15.6 million was recorded, the highest ever in a one day international (ODI) cricket match: 1.7 times the average concurrency to any other India match on the streaming service. Some 66% of Hotstar’s reach also extended beyond India’s big metro cities.

“We are delighted to have been able to deliver an uninterrupted cricket watching experience to such a large audience at once. Having achieved a single day platform reach of 100 million demonstrates the indisputable technology prowess that Hotstar brings to the OTT industry. This remarkable achievement has helped us set a new viewership benchmark,” said Varun Narang, chief product officer, Hotstar.

The 2019 edition of the ongoing Cricket World Cup is being streamed by Hotstar across six languages: English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Hotstar is also offering a social layer of #KoiYaarNahiFar with the Watch ’N Play feature, enabling friends to chat about the match with each other and celebrities, irrespective of their location.

In addition to India, Hotstar is bringing the ICC Cricket World Cup to consumers in the US and Canada. It can be accessed via the Hotstar app, online, or through living room devices like Roku TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Android TV and Samsung smart TVs.
