Five arrests have been made in Rennes following a joint complaint made by Canal+ Group, beIN Sports and RMC Sport in the Association for Combating Audiovisual Piracy (ALPA).
A preliminary investigation by the National Gendarmerie of Rennes’ Cybercrime Group is believed to have uncovered the group behind beinsport-streaming.com.
The illegal platform, which was feeding another 20 site featuring live sports events from the broadcasters has since been closed.
In the last 6 months beinsport-streaming.com sites were visited by nearly 500,000 Internet users per month.
Financing came through advertising banners.
The five are due to appear before the Correctional Court of Rennes.
