Choti Sarrdaami ushers Colors’ refreshed evening line-up

Viacom18’s Hindi general entertainment channel Colors is premiering a prime time weekday show Choti Sarrdaami on 1 July.
Produced by Cockcrow and Shaika Entertainment, the show is based in Punjab’s Sardool Garh and traces the life of Meher Dhillon, played by Nimrit Kaur. A Punjabi girl who dreams of a perfect life with Manav (Hitesh Bharadwaj) her dreams come crashing down and she is left to overcome hardships alone.
“Colors is committed to championing and propagating stories of tenacious women through shows like Shakti...Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Udaan and now with Choti Sarrdaarni,” said Nina Jaipuria, head, Hindi mass entertainment and kids TV, Viacom18.
“Through this show, we want to celebrate the spirit of every woman who has been through tough times but has come out stronger. It is an ode to all those women who have empowered themselves and played a prominent role in protecting and shaping the future of their families.”
Viacom18 chief content officer, Hindi mass entertainment, Manisha Sharma said: “Choti Sarrdaarni is a story presented through the lens of a girl who persists against all complexities of life, breaks stereotypes and paves the path to become a strong woman and moreover a stronger mother. Courage is a woman’s strongest armour and if we draw inspiration from our inner self, we can achieve anything and Meher’s story will remind everyone of just that.
“The viewers will relate to Meher’s struggles and her valour as she finds happiness, embraces motherhood and becomes a Bahadarni,” she added.
Cockcrow producer Rajesh Ram Singh said the show had been shot extensively in Punjab’s Amritsar and hopes to capture the “true flavour and culture of the city”.
Choti Sarrdaami will air from Monday to Friday at 7.30, after Khatra Khatra Khatra which will be extended to one hour beginning each day at 6.30pm. This programming line up follows the conclusion of the shows Udann and Ishq Mein Marjawan on 30 June.
