Bollywood film distribution and production company Pen N Camera is to launch an over-the-top (OTT) movie platform DON Cinema on 5 July.

DON Cinema plans to offer over 2,000 international films in six Indian languages, as well as 70 web series and 5,000 hours of animated films, on a pay-as-you-watch model. Each view will cost 1 rupee, and does not require any hidden subscription fees, according to the company.

Founded by producer/director Mehmood Ali, DON Cinema has gained backing from cricket physio Dr Ali Irani, Lucky Bakul Soni and technical partner 7Globetech.

The OTT platform has also forged partnerships with film companies including: Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation and Qabe Aaseman Javad Navrooz Baigi, Austria’s Megastore Systems, and Web Talkies from the US.

One of DON Cinema’s first original projects is reportedly a reality series called Tik Tok House, with a format similar to Big Boss / Big Brother. Amir Siddique and Team Nawab will produce the series.

The launch of the video streaming platform follows the introduction of two apps by Pen N Camera, called DON Sports and Stars Gift.
