The International Sports Broadcasting Corporation, ISB, has revealed that it engaged Albalá Ingenieros to provide a telecommunications infrastructure for the recent 2019 European Games in Minsk, Belarus.
The games were held from 21–30 June and included 199 events across 23 sporting disciplines. In the coverage, ISB, which specialises in televised coverage of large-scale sporting events, used a number of modules from Albalá in the international broadcast centre.
The Albalá equipment saw use in various tasks, some of which as sole equipment provider. These included SPG, baseband signal distribution, frame synchronisers, digital embedders for the international audio and all the fibre optic transport from various venues to the control center via electrical-to-optical automated switches.
At the venues, the technical operation centres (TOCs) all used Albalá equipment exclusively, including EOP2000C01 signal generator/distributors. Albalá’s recently launched R2001R01 mounting frame was also used for transport of graphics signals at various venues where those graphics signals are found internally.
“At ISB we have trusted the equipment from Albalá Ingenieros for many years now,” explained ISB technical director Esteban Galán. “After the success of the first European Games, for which we built the contribution portion that we’ve used again for these Games, we have also complemented part of our Control Center GLUE and graphics signal transport from multiple venues to our mobile unit with Albalá devices using the new 2 RU mounting frames that provide versatility and reliability in a small footprint. Our trust in Albalá Ingenieros stems from their efficient customer service and the speed of its response and delivery.”
