Building on its recently announced carriage deal, three channels from Channel 5’s My5 VOD platform are now live on the Pluto TV service in the UK.
The launch of My5 Crime, My5 Documentaries and My5 GPs: Behind Closed Doors reciprocates the recent launch of three Pluto TV channels — Pluto TV Drama, Pluto TV Movies and Pluto TV Food — on My5.
My5 says that the channels will bring a range of ‘much-loved’ Channel 5 content to Pluto TV, complementing its existing portfolio of documentaries and true crime series.
My5 Crime is Pluto TV’s new go-to channel detailing investigations of murder cases, drug busts and street violence in the UK. Highlights of the new crime channel include 5Spike’s Fights, Camera, Action and Police Interceptors, which features techniques used by police to catch and convict culprits.
My5 Documentaries brings an array of factual entertainment ranging from Pompeii’s Final Hours: New Evidence unearthing the truth about the fate of the Italian city, to Around the World by Train with Tony Robinson showcasing travel destinations, and Britain’s Bloodiest Dynasty and Britain’s Bloody Crown uncovering the secrets, deeds and conflicts of the UK’s past rulers.
Single series channel My5 GPs: Behind Closed Doors grants rare access to the daily stresses, strains and joy of health care professionals in Britain’s NHS. The series is the only one in the UK to be filmed in a working GP surgery, with each episode covering one week of the day-to-day challenges of doctors, nurses and patients in a local surgery.
“We recognised our viewers’ curiosity about true crime, documentaries and behind-the-scenes looks at an early stage and implemented them with channels such as Pluto TV Crime,” said Olivier Jollet, managing director Europe at Pluto TV commenting on the launch. “The My5 additions, with beloved series like GPs: Behind Closed Doors and Police Interceptors now bring an even more intimate, humane perspective on the world and people around us to Pluto TV.”
Oli Thomas, VP, digital, Viacom International Media Networks, UK, Northern and Eastern Europe added “The launch of three My5 channels on Pluto TV extends the availability of strong performing Channel 5 content to new audiences in the OTT space. We’ve had great success with Pluto TV content on My5, currently accounting for 5% of viewing to the platform just a month after launch.”
