With 2018’s Copa Libertadores final showing the global popularity of the clashes between Argentina’s two most popular football teams, Boca Juniors and River Plate, the country’s leading sports network TyC Sports is celebrating a coup with US broadcast rights for the teams’ league games.

Superliga Argentina is one of the leading global football competitions on the planet, distinguished by the quality of the game, the level of the players and the passion, sometimes excessive, of the fans in the stands.

The deal will see every weekend TyC Sports broadcast 11 games of the Superliga Argentina for the US, a market in which the channel reaches more than 1.6 million homes. This includes the 1 September Superclásico between the two Buenos Aires teams held at River’s Monumental Stadium, the first River-Boca after the final of the Copa Libertadores in December 2018 which had to be held at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid due to crowd disorder before the second leg kicked off.

In addition to the Superliga, TyC Sports will broadcast all the matches of the Copa Argentina and the most outstanding matches of the Primera Nacional (First National Division) and Primera Division B (First Division B). This it says allows it to offer a fundamental link with the country for Argentineans who live abroad and for the Latin American community in general.
