Hulu slashes monthly subscription with Teigen promo

Hulu has announced a promotion tied to Chrissy Teigen that will give new subscribers half off the service for the first six months, which is $2.99 per month.

Hulu has been running various promotions almost continuously for at least a year; and it’s paying off: The recent quarter saw it standing at 28 million paid memberships.

The news comes as Disney assumes full control of Hulu in the wake of its acquisition of the Fox media assets. The House of Mouse has said that it expects Hulu’s operating losses to peak this year at $1.5 billion, and then reach profitability by 2023 or 2024.

Meanwhile. Disney is prepping the rollout of its own streaming service, Disney+, expected in November.
