Disney, DISH avoid blackout – for now

Disney has granted Dish Network an extension to its carriage deal, avoiding a blackout for US subscribers of Fox and National Geographic content.

Disney began warning Dish Network and Sling TV customers this week that they could lose access to FX, FXX, FXM, National Geographic and National Geographic WILD channels, but the extension avoided any impact to consumers.

Talks are continuing in the meantime, sources said.

This is the second extension for Dish – the first came in July.
