Bangladesh pay-TV operator Beximco Communicatons (BexCom) has picked Irdeto to secure the content delivered by its direct-to-home (DTH) service Akash.
Using the Irdeto Cloaked CA, the new platform is now securely delivering 110 standard and high definition channels, and premium content across the south Asian country.
“As a leader in digital TV services in Bangladesh it is important that we continue to innovate and offer a combination of premium content, delivered securely, and a great user experience,” said DS Faisal Hyder, CEO, BexCom.
“The right security partner is a key part of ensuring success and Irdeto’s consultative approach, alongside its strong product offering which meets both our technical and commercial needs, makes it the perfect partner for Akash.”
Akash, which launched on 19 May 2019, is the first direct-to-home (DTH) service in a country traditionally dominated by cable TV. The platform is broadcast using five transponders on Bangladesh’s first satellite, the Bangabandhu Satellite (BS1), at 119.1° East.
Doug Lowther, CEO, Irdeto added: “As the digital pay TV market in Bangladesh grows rapidly, there is a huge opportunity for digital TV services that meet consumer demands as they evolve and BexCom understands this opportunity.
“BexCom is ensuring a future-proof service that gives consumers the content they desire along with a great user experience, and we look forward to the great success of its Akash platform.”
