Quibi signs The Weather Channel on exclusive contract

Accelerating the pace of its efforts to fill out its portfolio before its launch in April 2020, the Quibi short-form mobile video service has struck a deal with The Weather Channel television network to provide daily meteorological programming for the mobile platform.
As part of the new deal, The Weather Channel will be the exclusive weather content provider for Quibi’s curated news and information programming, Daily Essentials. These are said to be a unique content offering from Quibi in addition to its scripted and unscripted “shows. Curated daily into minutes-long bites of news, entertainment and ‘inspiration’, Quibi’s Daily Essentials are intended to give quickly everything viewers need to know.
Recognised as the TV News Brand of the Year ine years in a row by The Harris Poll, and one of the top 20 Most Loved Brands in America as recognised by Morning Consult, The Weather Channel has broadcasting for 37 years. The show will feature short-form national and hyper-localised weather and forecasting stories, and it will also use The Weather Channel’s immersive mixed reality to help audiences understand how the weather will impact them.
Through the new partnership, the show will available seven days a week, only on Quibi. The Weather Channel television network says that the partnership will see it expand its daily millennial audience and deliver critical information during severe weather conditions.
