Original DOM replacement with DOM Transcend 40 PIN 2 GB
(procedure valid for those who have already enigma2 on board)
STEP ONE
1) Off the decoder
2) Detached power supply
3) Expected a few seconds
4) Remove the cover
5) Original DOM parade (a fairly simple operation because the connection is a "plug" type)
6) Before entering the new DOM
- Place the switch on M = master (mine was already in the correct position)
- Rest the DOM on the seat with the 40 pins to understand the degree of pressure that will be necessary for the assembly
- Pay attention to the reference tab, it is essential for correct assembly
7) Proceed, after the precautions mentioned above to the decided insertion (otherwise it does not enter ...)
STEP TWO
8) After reconnecting the decoder, switch it on to send it in rescue mode by holding down the V + key until the IP assigned by the home network appears
9) Proceed with the installation of the enigma2 firmware as usual (I installed OpenATV 4.2), additional notes:
- I used azup228 which, after finishing the operation, creates a folder called DOMextender
- Be patient because during the first installation the times are very long, so if you see a black screen or wheels that turn, don't worry, in the end you will find enigma2 installed correctly.
STEP THREE
10) Not having the hard disk I installed an 8gb stick formatting it from a decoder and on which I installed the swap file anyway (I didn't join it to the DOM with flashexpander)
11) I installed cashflush (I like it) and to follow all the plugins that interested me, more picons, and even something more, everything was downloaded correctly, I didn't understand what the az save in the folder / media / DOMExtender / usr and what you install in the main directory, not bad because as I said there were no hitches due to the lack of memory.
12) I tried some recordings from the SAT tuner and to save some films from Mediastream, everything ended up on the flash drive and the vision is smooth without problems in both cases
13) I tried a little streaming vision and overall it seems to me improved, as well as the decoder response times, even in the same phase of the next update. Plugin download times have been slightly extended, at my first impression.
CONCLUSIONS:
My experience has been positive, certainly not life changing compared to what you can already do with USB and Flashexpander, so I recommend it only to extreme geeks, the purpose is always to lengthen the performance and life of our beloved decoder and with e2 evolving, who knows if the use of larger DOMs becomes a necessity.
Thanks @Tritus
