The company behind the Freebox wants to put a stop to the French streaming platform Salto, before its even been launch.
Free has joined Salto in expressing concerns over the platform, a joint venture between TF1, M6 and France Télévisions.
La Lettre A reports the Iliad subsidiary has appealed to the Conseil d’État (council of state) over the decision by the competition authority to give approval to the venture. Free has previously expressed concerns that Salto represents a cartel of the main French channels, which would bring risks to distributors that also serve as ISPs.
Last week, Streaming service Molotov reported TF1 and M6 to the Competition Authority, accusing them of abuse of power. If the Molotov action is successful it won’t prevent a launch but would ensure Molotov is not put at a disadvantage by the partners.
