PC attaches great importance to equal rights for women and men. Since its first evaluation in 2012, UPC has guaranteed equal pay regardless of gender. With Severina Pascu, the first female CEO of a Swiss telecom company, a powerful example was set, and International Women's Day 2019 was also celebrated in a big way at UPC for the first time. Baptiest Coopmans, who has been head of the company since the beginning of February 2020, is also committed to the advancement of women in technical professions and wants to continue this tradition with a special campaign: between 6 and 9 March 2020, UPC will support the non-profit organisation Girls in Tech Switzerland by donating CHF 20 for each subscription sold.
Purple web page and input presentation by Steffi Buchli
To draw attention to International Women's Day, UPC's website will be turned purple for these four days and will let employees have their say on this year's motto #eachforequal. In addition, on 8 March 2020, call centre employees will congratulate all female callers on International Women's Day. UPC will also carry out various activities for its employees, such as a networking breakfast and a presentation by MySports director Steffi Buchli, in which she will draw attention to the differences in the public’s perception of women and men. In light of recent developments, these activities will be postponed to a later date.
Nadine Zollinger, General Counsel & Chief People Officer at UPC, says: "As an employer, UPC focuses on family-friendly structures such as the option of working part-time or in home office. We have also offered equal pay for many years because we firmly believe that women and men must be paid equally for equal services. International Women's Day is an important time for us to draw attention to gender equality and the promotion of women through various initiatives for employees and customers."
