Aiming to make it easier for regional businesses to sign up for, and implement, its solutions for media centres, marcomms CMS and metadata sharing, Nordic media-tech platform Clipsource has signed a global framework agreement with Discovery Networks.

dan willstrand clipsource 18Aug2020Stockholm-based Clipsource is a supplier of media technology services to leading entertainment companies throughout Europe. Clipsource’s services include a system for collection and merging of data from various internal systems into one coherent metadata structure and sharing process. It also offers a solution for automated distribution of schedules and VOD data to external parties.

The ultimate goal of the new framework agreement with Discovery is to increase the awareness of the media giant’s programmes, streamline the distribution of media and metadata for marcomms at a global scale and help Discovery consumers find their favourite content. The collaboration with Discovery has so far comprised the Nordic countries, Germany and France.

“As the competition for streaming media eyeballs intensifies, the need to distribute rich information about the programmes increases,” explained Clipsource CEO Dan Willstrand (pictured). “The more videos, images and metadata that are offered for each episode, the easier it is for consumers to find and understand the content. This is particularly important for content discovery platforms and search engines since their accuracy is dependent on information availability.”

Added Anders Jemdahl, director of procurement at Discovery Nordics and of the Dplay on-demand service: “Clipsource has been a trusted partner of Discovery Nordic for a long time, and we needed a partner who we could rely on and be part of our digital transformation globally. Connectivity of data is a vital part of our media strategy across the Discovery Group, and Clipsource is the right partner for this.”
