Besides the exclusive ice hockey experience, MySports guarantees more highlights from the world of sports in the coming months. These are consciously tailored towards the fans: all matches of Kadetten Schaffhausen and Andy Schmid’s Rhein-Neckar Löwen from the EHF European League 2020/2021, the legendary America’s Cup sailing regatta and the sustainable, climate-neutral off-road racing series “Extreme E”.
The EHF European League, one of the top-class competitions in European club handball, presents two top teams with a Swiss connection in its 2020/2021 programme. The reigning Swiss champion, Kadetten Schaffhausen, will encounter the leading German club, the Rhein-Neckar Löwen with the top Swiss athlete Andy Schmid, already in the group phase.
Matches of the Kadetten Schaffhausen and the Final4 in the EHF European League shown live
For MySports this is reason enough to show all 14 group games of both top teams live and exclusively. Should the Kadetten come through the group phase, the sports channel will also show all knockout matches of this Northern Swiss team.
In any case the programme will include the matches of the Final4 tournament on 22 and 23 May 2021. A total of five games from the rights package for the EHF European League will also be shown on the Swiss media channel S1.
America’s Cup – the technological peak of sailing
Also exclusively for Switzerland, from December to March MySports will broadcast the sailing regattas belonging to the 36th America's Cup. Following the duel between the defending champion, Team New Zealand, and the yet to be named challenger (from 6 to no later than 21 March 2021), MySports has already scheduled the preparatory regattas for the America’s Cup World Series and the Christmas Regatta in December, as well as the Challenger freestyle for the Prada Cup from mid-January to the end of February 2021.
Not only its history makes the America's Cup unique – also influenced by the Swiss Alinghi team – but also the spectacular boat class: the AC75. Huge single-hull boats that fly over the water thanks to fold-out foils and represent the technological peak of sailing. Team New Zealand will do everything in its power to defend the America’s Cup. Three challengers from Italy, the USA and Great Britain, equipped with the world’s best sailors, will attempt to snatch the silver cup from Team NZ.
“Extreme E” – a climate-neutral new off-road racing series from the makers of Formula E
A newcomer to the MySports programme is also the Extreme E format, a radical new off-road racing series that was founded by the same team as the Formula E. The series has developed an innovative format that distinguishes it from all others and is designed for short, intense wheel-to-wheel battles. Each race is made up of two rounds over a distance of about 16 kilometres. Four teams with two drivers each – one male, one female – that each absolve one round in the car compete head-to-head against one another in each race of the two-day event. Each driver will take their place behind the wheel of the electric SUV for one round, and the driver switch is integrated in the racing format. For MySports the “green” aspect is at the forefront. Sustainability and climate neutrality in motorsport is an important and appropriate innovation.
For Matthias Krieb, who is responsible for MySports at UPC, Extreme E is a perfect project for the channel: “For motorsport in particular, sustainability is given high priority. MySports welcomes these efforts and has been accompanying the FIA Formula E from the very beginning as the exclusive broadcaster for Switzerland. The Extreme E goes even a step farther: by focusing on the regions that are most strongly affected by climate problems, it points out vividly the current state of the Amazon, the Sahara or the Arctic. By broadcasting the Extreme E series we would like to continue raising awareness for the topic and at the same time make fascinating, exciting content accessible to our viewers.”
The opening season for Extreme E starts in early 2021 and will take place in five locations that are already damaged or affected by climatic problems.
Calendar for the Extreme E Season 1 (2021) – all races live and exclusively on MySports:
20-21 March 2021: Desert X Prix: Al Ula, Saudi Arabia
29-30 May 2021: Ocean X Prix: Lac Rose, Senegal

Extreme E is supported by some of the best-known figureheads in motorsport circles, such as Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton. The confirmed teams include: Chip Ganassi Racing and Andretti United (USA), Abt, HWA and Rosberg Xtreme Racing (Germany), Team TECHEETAH (Indonesia), QEV Technologies (Spain), Veloce Racing and X44 (Great Britain).
