JUNE 9, 2021 08.21 EUROPE/LONDON BY CHRIS DZIADUL

Polandís National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has approved a name change for the TV channel Superstacja.

Operated by the national commercial broadcaster Polsat, it will be rebranded Wydarzenia 24 and offer viewers specialised and informative content, with elements of journalism, sports information and advice.

Local reports say Wydzarzenia 24 will operated as part of Polsat News and will be launched under its new name at the beginning of September.

Broadband TV News notes that Superstacja has been officially part of the Polsat group since June 2018, prior to which it was owned by Zygmunt Solorz, the founder and majority owner of Polsat and its parent company Cyfrowy Polsat, and his business associate Heronim Ruta.

Superstacja was launched in November 2006.
