Legal OTT services in Russia had total revenues of R21.919 billion (€253.3 million) in the first half of this year.

According to research undertaken by TelecomDaily, while this was 24% higher than in the same period last year, the OTT segment will not be able to maintain the same high growth rates that it was able to maintain from 2018-2020.

Indeed, the growth rate in 2021 is expected to be 25-30%, as opposed to 50% previously.

Of the R21.919 billion in revenues in H1 this year, subscriptions accounted for R17.844 billion and ad-funded services around R4 billion. This meant that the latter’s share continued to decline, from 22.5% to 18.5%.

The distribution in revenues among the top six providers did not change significantly, with ivi still leading with 24.05%, followed by KinoPoisk HD (14.1%) and Okko (12.4%).

KinoPoisk HD, which is owned by Yandex, showed the strongest growth.
