Telefónica loses Spanish pay-TV customers

Spain’s Telefónica saw its pay-TV subscriber base in its home market decline by 6.2% in the year to September 30.

As of the end of Q3 it stood at 3,679.1 million, compared to 3,709.2 million a year earlier.

At the same time, its residential broadband subscriber total fell by 2.6% to 5,873.6 million, of which 4,7745 million (+4.8%) was FTTH.

The number of convergent clients was 4,682.7 million (-3.4%) as of September 30, with convergent ARPU €88.9 (-2.8%) and convergent churn 1.4% (+0.1pp).

Telefónica Group as a whole has revenues of €29,603 million in the first nine months of this year, down 8% on a year earlier.

OIBDA was 116.6% higher at €20,620 million and the net income €9,335 million.
