Pay-TV grows in Croatia

IPTV now accounts for over half of pay-TV connections in Croatia.

Furthermore, according to data published by the regulator HAKOM, nearly a third (30.3%) of homes used the technology to receive TV service as of the end of the third quarter.

At the same time, 12.1% opted for cable TV, 9.7% for DTH, 7% for pay-DTT, with 41% choosing FTA terrestrial services.

HAKOM notes that pay-TV market revenues in the first nine months of this year were 4% higher than in the same period in 2020, while the number of pay-TV subscribers at the end of September was also 4% higher than a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the number of FTTH connections was up 33% and 25% of broadband connections offered speeds of more than 100 Mbps.

There was also a shift from triple to quadruple play packages.

In terms of total investment, the total amount in the first nine months of this year was 16% higher than in the same period in 2020, while in fibre it was up by 127%.

Total revenues in the electronic communications market were up by 5%.
