Magyar Telekom to drop DTH service
JANUARY 7, 2022 09.10 EUROPE/LONDON BY CHRIS DZIADUL

The Hungarian incumbent Magyar Telekom will remove satellite TV from its offer on January 21.

According to HWSW, it will then only offer new customers its IPTV service. Although existing DTH subscribers will be able to continue receiving the service, it remains unclear for how long.

Magyar Telekom has operated a DTH service since 2008 and it is currently distributed by Spacecom, which since last year has been backed by Hungary’s 4iG.

As of the end of Q3 2021 the telco had 997,000 IPTV, 192,000 DTH and 98,000 cable TV subscribers.
