Queen Elizabeth’s passing places The Crown into Netflix Top 10

The death of Queen Elizabeth II has sparked a renewed interest in the Netflix series The Crown.

Originally released in 2016, the Peter Morgan drama has had nearly 17-point-six million viewing hours around the world this week, according to the streamer.

This makes Season 1 of The Crown the seventh most watched series globally.

The number one show is Season 5 of comedy drama Cobra Kai.

However, The Crown doesn’t make it into the UK Top 10, where broadcast schedules continue to be dominated by current royal events.

Season 5 of The Crown with a new cast including Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Lesley Manville, Jonathan Pryce and Bertie Carvel will be released later this year. The 6th and final season is currently in production.
