Content creation, funding and distribution company BossaNova Media has announced a string of major sales for its Border Force and Border Patrol returning franchises headed by leading pay-TV group Sky TV renewing for 160 hours and 80 episodes for a further three years.

Border Patrol is a 10 x 30’ series originally produced for TVNZ by New Zealand factual producer Greenstone. The show takes a look over the shoulder of customs officials on the frontline of border patrol. Their intercepts lead to thousands of dollars-worth of illegal substances being taken off the streets. Fake passports, stolen credit cards, fraudsters and those who say they are on a holiday but have other more sinister intentions keep officers on their toes. From plants to giraffes and other exotic animals, the team have to cope with a constant flow of challenging situations.

Sky TV has renewed for the UK a package deal of multiple series of Border Patrol, Highway Patrol and Motorway Patrol for a three-year period. Highway Patrol gives first-hand experience of the breakneck world of Australia’s traffic enforcers and the day-to-day lives of those who carry out this dangerous job on the road. Motorway Patrol takes viewers to ‘motorway pandemonium’ as those who drive on New Zealand’s motorways never to fail to deliver when the cameras are rolling. Viewers get full access to not only the officers who are patrolling the motorways, but also CCTV footage from the motorway cameras.

Paramount Global- and AMC Networks-owned CBS Reality has acquired series 1-4 (40 x 60’) of Stampede Production’s Border Force USA: The Bridges for its African and Polish territories. Nippon TV in Japan has also bought the first series and Discovery Italy has acquired series four. Border Force USA: The Bridges (pictured) follows the work of America’s Customs and Border Protection agency on the border between the US and Mexico, the busiest in the world. Their job is to protect the border and stop terrorists, human traffickers, drugs and illegal weapons from entering the country. National Geographic Channels in the US has acquired series 9-12 of Border Patrol and in Benelux, series 6-9.

Commenting on the deals, Holly Cowdery, head of sales at BossaNova said: “It’s clear that audiences worldwide are fascinated by the lives and work of those on the frontline of where our borders meet. Luckily for us, the stories are infinite and never fail to entertain and surprise.”
