Telenet in three-way tech agreement with Liberty Global
JANUARY 4, 2023 12.21 EUROPE/LONDON BY JULIAN CLOVER

Telenet has entered into a new agreement with Liberty Global for three technology applications; EOS, OneConnect and Aorta.

It’s a follow-up to the 2019 ‘Horizon Agreement’ that committed Telenet to EOS for three years, which was extended for a further 12 months in 2021.

Liberty Global is the ultimate parent company of Telenet and holds an indirect shareholding of 59.2%.

For the EOS video platform and OneConnect, the initial term expires on December 31, 2026, with the option for Telenet to renew the Framework Agreement once for a one-year term (ie until December 31, 2027) For Aorta, the initial term expires on December 31, 2025, with the option to renew the Framework Agreement twice for a one-year term (ie until December 31, 2027).

Telenet has been using the EOS video platform since 2019. Its technology is moving towards a cloud-based over-the-top (OTT) solution.

OneConnect is one of the leaders in the market in terms of in-home connectivity solutions, while Aorta bundles IP transit services (providing access to the global fibre backbone), VPN services (to provide private connections for entertainment and in-home connectivity), and and DDoS services (in the context of network security).
