Swisscom has selected Ateme’s end-to-end over-the-top (OTT) solution to migrate its Cloud Digital Video Recording (CDVR) platform for its blue TV service to Amazon Web Services (AWS), marking the world’s first large-scale CDVR implementation in a public cloud environment.

Swisscom’s decision to adopt Ateme’s solution evolved from the joint needs to streamline operations, optimize hardware resources, and enhance scalability for the OTT platform.

The selected package also includes Ateme’s NEA packaging and CDN solutions, which complement Swisscom’s existing virtualized TITAN transcoders.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in the industry, showcasing the successful integration of CDVR services within a public cloud infrastructure.

Subscribers watch and record more and more content,” said Marco Lötscher, Head of Technology Group at Swisscom TV & Smart Products. “We needed a scalable solution that would allow us to follow this growth, without being capped by on-premises investments. Ateme was the natural choice, having both helped us deploy the cutting-edge fully virtualized headend in 2018, and proved its worth through years of strong support.”

“We are proud to collaborate with a company of the caliber of Swisscom, which placed third in Brand Finance’s ranking of the world’s most valuable and strongest brands,” said Yoann Poizeau, VP EMEA at Ateme. “It’s an honour for us to have been chosen to work with AWS to help Swisscom seamlessly migrate blue TV’s CDVR service to the cloud, so it can continue to captivate its audience and further strengthen its brand.”
