Gazprom-Media’s Match TV has remotely broadcast a sports event for the first time in the history of Russian television.
According to Gazprom-Media, the TV channel used remote production technology, one of the trends in world television, during the match of the third round of the MIR RPL “Baltika” – “Fakel” in Kaliningrad.
It adds that the essence of the technology lies in the absence of broadcast directors, technical specialists and mobile TV stations at the scene of the event, which greatly simplifies logistics and reduces production costs. The signal from the cameras located on was transmitted via a special communication line directly to the control room in Ostankino.
Commenting on the development, Alexey Balaban, deputy general producer of Match TV, said: “The use of remote technology is, without exaggeration, a historic event for domestic television, and it is gratifying that Match TV became the first channel to use it. We have a record number of live broadcasts, we produce a huge number of broadcasts per month and, of course, the issue of staff and equipment logistics is very important to us. The best directors can now be involved in several important events without leaving their workplace in Ostankino. And most importantly, the technology was implemented seamlessly, so that the viewer did not notice the changes and, as before, received a quality product”.
