A public debate on the conditions for awarding licences for 5G services will take place in Serbia from next Monday, September 18.

News of the debate was confirmed to Blic by the country’s Ministry of Information and Telecommunications. The publication adds that a public bidding procedure for the frequencies 694-790 MHz, 2500-2690 MHz and 3400-3800 will subsequently take place.

Broadband TV News notes that United Group has previously criticised the Serbian government for not announcing a 5G tender on the grounds that the incumbent telco Telekom Srbija has no money for investments.

United Group’s local subsidiary Serbia Broadband (SBB), on the other hand, is ready to invest €240 million in 5G services.
