Spacecom’s Amos delayed

Amos 3 is ready to go, adding capacity for Israel and Spacecom. But April 24 saw a last-minute launch-pad delay.
Amos 3 is being launched from the ILS/Proton facility at Baikonur, but there are reports that the launch supporting arm has malfunctioned. The satellite itself is fine, but will be subject to a delay in the launch until the glitch is fixed following inspections during April 24.

It is not yet known if a repair to the arm has to be carried out. Amos-3, designed and constructed by Israel Aerospace Industries MBT Space Division, will enhance Spacecom’s satellite constellation at the 4°West longitude orbital location, providing back-up capabilities and service reliability.

Spacecom president and CEO, David Pollack, said: “This launch represents another step forward in executing our corporate growth strategy to extend Spacecom’s geographic reach and expand our customer base.”
