Alexander Pankov has been appointed the president of Russia’s Vimpelcom, effective October 16.

He is currently Beeline’s VP for interaction with government agencies and will continue in this role.

According to the company’s charter, the president represents its interests before government agencies, determines the policy for working with personal data and is responsible for the operator’s work with information representing state secrets.

Commenting on the appointment, Alexander Torbakhov, Beeline CEO, said: “Now that we have become a completely Russian company, the GR (government relations) direction of our work has become even more significant. In this sense, the appointment of Alexander Pankov to a new position is a logical step. I welcome Alexander to his new role and wish him success in his work”.

Vimpelcom’s former president Rashid Ismailov has left Beeline due the expiry of his term in office.
