4 Private Listening is among smart Roku features this Christmas
Roku has started its pre-Christmas sales push, and one smart UX feature being highlighted is Private Listening, where viewers block out external noise by transferring television set or streamer box audio to wired as well as Bluetooth headphones via the mobile app.

Up to four mobile devices can be connected at the same time for communal private listening – although this is probably a minority use-case. Audio from streaming channels, and also linear broadcast if connected via a Roku powered television, is transferred to headphones. The mobile app works on phones or tablets.

In the UK, Roku has also announced a promotion that gives both new and existing Roku TV or streaming stick users free access to ITVX Premium for 30-days (offer lasts until December 31). ITVX Premium is the ad-free version of the UK broadcaster’s streaming service.
