Streaming platform Joyn recorded its strongest quarter of the year on the back of a growth in digital revenues at German broadcasting group ProSiebenSat.1.

It comes amid a continued decline in traditional TV revenues, which alongside a weak economy, saw revenues slip by 3% to €888 million on 2022.

Group sales came to €2,571 million, a decline of €323 million or 11%.

Bert Habets, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE said: “We have taken the challenges in the market as an opportunity to realign our Group in terms of personnel and organisation. In doing so, we are setting the course for further expansion of our digital business areas.”

Joyn increased its advertising revenues by 58%, while there was also growth around programmatic advertising time sales.

Digital & smart advertising revenues in the DACH region grew by 16%, partially compensating for the decline in TV advertising revenues. Joyn, in particular, made very significant gains here.

Martin Mildner, Chief Financial Officer of ProSiebenSat.1 Media said that after a difficult first half of the year it was now seeing the first signs that its strategy was paying off and anticipated a slight increase in sales and earnings for the fourth quarter.
