German platform operator Freenet TV is launching a hybrid TV stick in January 2024, combining DTT with IP streaming.

The HDMI stick can be used to access the 40 Full HD channels (1080p) from Freenet TV’s terrestrial DVB-T2 package as well as numerous catch-up services and streaming apps, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, DAZN, waipu.tv and YouTube.

The streaming offer also contains up to 250 TV channels, including more than 220 in HD quality. Viewers can pause, restart and record the programmes. Up to four streams can be started in parallel and one account can be shared by the whole family. For DTT reception, the stick must be connected to an indoor or outdoor aerial; the internet connection is via Wi-Fi.

The stick will be available online and from consumer electronics retailers at a recommended retail price of €129, which includes a one-year subscription to Freenet TV. At the end of the 12 months, users can choose between a monthly subscription for €7.99 or a 12-month subscription for €99.
