Premiere adding Tellenbach to board
German pay-TV outfit Premiere, besides adding Tom Mockridge (CEO Sky Italia) and Mark Williams (News Corp’s CFO/Europe & Asia) to its board, is also drafting in its former CEO Markus Tellenbach.
The three appointments are another measure of how serious Premiere seems to be about its move forward. It is in the process of curing its hacking and pirate box problems, and the News Corp shareholding has injected fresh thinking into its strategy – and might have further aims and intentions on the business.
Tellenbach (pictured, left), the latest appointment to Premiere’s expanded Supervisory Board, is currently chairman of Convers Media, based in Switzerland, described as an international new media company that’s concentrating on online video and electronic publishing. But his most recent past includes a strong CV from his period at SBS Broadcasting (now part of Pro7-Sat1) where he ended up as President.
However, until 2001 Tellenbach was a senior staffer at Premiere World – as it was then called – under Leo Kirch. That iteration of Premiere collapsed with the bankruptcy of the Kirch Group.
