Bush Freesat BFSAT02SD
This Bush receiver was also badged as a Grundig GUFSAT02SD.
With Freesat moving towards HD, these old SD boxes with Scart are of limited use now.
However, as with older BSKYB Sky boxes, they can be used on other satellites, where we find plenty of FTA SD channels.
Here we meet the usual limitation - the transponders have to be entered manually and may be limited to the Sky 27500/22000 symbol rates and limited FEC rates.
The BFSAT02SD has rs232 connections on the TV Scart socket:-
Scart gnd pin 9 goes to rs232 5 gnd pin
rx 10 goes to 3 tx
tx 12 goes to 2 rx
This is a Null Modem connection, DTE to DTE.
Scart pins 10 and 12 were reserved for data use and are available at boot up before Scart is operative.
Monitored at 115200 8N1 no flow control, the box yields a verbose output after about 15 seconds.
The box uses an STi5188 CPU, based on the STx5118/ST0288 chipset.
That seems to be as far as we get - so far I have not managed to dump the firmware.
It would, of course, be useful to be able to update the software.
