GAAGo, which streams GAA games to audiences in Ireland and internationally, grew its revenues last year by €2.6 million or 118% to €4.96 million.
The latest account posted by GAAGo Media Ltd show the controversial joint venture between the GAA and public broadcaster RTE double its revenues from €2.4 million to €5.23 million as key matches moved to the subscription streaming service.
RTE and the GAA between them received €1.2 billion from the venture.
In August, the GAA invited “expressions of interest” for domestic broadcast rights for All-Ireland senior football and hurling championships currently broadcast by GAAGo. The move potentially puts into question the future of the controversial venture, which currently streams over 100 GAA games to both Irish and international audiences.
The move followed advice from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission after an investigation of GAAGo, the joint venture between public broadcaster RTE and the GAA itself.
