Global ad-supported streaming TV network wedotv and Italian free TV platform tivůsat have expanded their distribution partnership to include wedotv’s FAST Channel wedotv BIG stories.

The platform, which serves all of Italy, Vatican City, and San Marino, is also moving up the EPG slot for wedotv movies for increased visibility. The announcement was made today by wedotv Co-CEO Philipp Rotermund and Tivů Sales and Marketing Director Luca De Bartolo.

tivůsat carries wedotv’s channels from the Eutelsat Hotbird 13° uplink (transponder 117). wedotv movies moves to channel 30 and wedotv BIG stories will be available on channel 60. Both channels will utilise HbbTV technology for dynamic ad insertion for the local market and are available to consumers now.

“Until recently, you wouldn’t have heard ‘streaming’ and ‘satellite’ mentioned in the same conversation about channel distribution strategies, but we have proven that the two can not only co-exist, but work together very successfully for real mutual value,” said Rotermund. “Our agreement with tivůsat is a clear and compelling example of that synergy. tivůsat is thriving by including local and international channels – both broadcast and streaming – via Eutelsat’s powerful Hotbird satellite. We’re proud to be included on their expanding and forward-thinking digital TV platform.”

De Bartolo added: “We are pleased to welcome wedotv BIG stories to tivůsat, the second channel from wedotv, a fast-growing broadcaster bringing the energy and innovation of the FAST model to linear TV. Their editorial vision stands out for its consistency, originality, and quality, and is increasingly appreciated by our audience. The launch of this channel reinforces tivůsat’s commitment to offering varied, high-quality, and innovative content, while supporting new players in the European audiovisual landscape.”

Both wedotv movies and wedotv BIG stories are available in Italian language on tivůsat, customised for the local audience.
