EPGImport MOD By iet5 Ο.Ε. version 3.0

Now we moved to version 3.0 ,

This release took a significant amount of time, as the plugin files that work on Dreambox do not work the same way on Open Source images. Therefore, I unified the files and implemented conditions, allowing the plugin to automatically detect the image type and Python version, and then select the most suitable configuration.

I have tested the plugin on Dreambox and Vu+ devices. I have not tested it on other devices, as I do not have access to them.

A problem was found on OpenATV and open-source images with certain sources, such as Rytec, where the source selection list did not open, which prevented choosing an import source.



This happened because I do not use those sources myself, so I was unable to test them earlier.


The issue has now been fixed successfully.

Fixing the issue with IPTV channels that have large Service IDs.
Applying a Masking mechanism to SID / TSID / ONID identifiers to ensure compatibility with Enigma2.
Improving the handling of large channel lists exceeding 10,000 channels without causing UI Freeze.
Fixing the issue where EPG did not appear for some IPTV channels due to differences in how identifiers were stored between EPGImport and Enigma2.

Code Improvements and Modifications
A new source-filtering feature has been added to help reduce or prevent duplicate sources inside the plugin as much as possible.
I wanted to contribute as much as I could to solving the issue of duplicate sources within the plugin, while once again clarifying an important point: my responsibility is limited to the plugin itself, meaning whether the plugin works correctly or not. The sources, their content, and how they are organized are not my responsibility.
Nevertheless, I tried to help from my side, so I added a new feature inside the plugin. When this feature is enabled, it helps significantly reduce or prevent duplicate sources.
I had more than one possible approach, including using a fingerprinting system before deletion,
Therefore, I moved to another solution: filtering the sources and preventing duplicates in a safer way.


Full compatibility with Python 2.7 / 3.12 / 3.14.

Version 3.5.1

This release includes several code improvements and modifications, in addition to addressing the system slowdown freezing issues experienced on Dreambox One and Dreambox Two while updating the program guide.

The performance of EPGImport has been improved on both devices running DreamOS / Enigma2 2.6 or later. A dedicated code condition has been added specifically for these two devices, without changing the plugin’s general logic or affecting its performance on other devices.
During a program guide update, the plugin downloads the EPG file, decompresses it, reads thousands of channel and program entries, and then saves them to the EPG database. Previously, some of these resource-intensive operations were executed within the main Enigma2 UI thread, which could cause the device to slow down or the picture to freeze temporarily until the import process was completed.

After this update, Dreambox One and Dreambox Two now operate as follows:
The EPG file is decompressed in the background.
Channel and program data is processed and added to the EPG database in the background.
The Enigma2 interface remains more responsive, reducing system slowdowns and picture freezing during the update.
Improved error handling has been added to prevent the import process from becoming stuck if a background task fails.
These changes apply only to the two devices mentioned above and do not affect how the plugin operates on other DreamOS devices.
