Whale TV adds Boosteroid cloud gaming app to 4K smart TV line-up

Whale TV has launched the Boosteroid cloud gaming service on its TV operating system, bringing streamed PC gaming to compatible 4K Whale TV-powered sets.
From today (Monday, the Boosteroid app is available on 4K Whale TV models across Europe, North America and South America, including sets sold under brands such as Philips, RCA, Sharp, Telefunken and JVC.
The companies say the integration enables gameplay at up to 4K resolution and 120fps, with users able to play via a Bluetooth controller or use a smartphone as a virtual controller.
Whale TV said partners can deploy existing Android apps on its OS architecture, while Boosteroid described the launch as part of its push to widen access to premium gaming via connected TV platforms.
Boosteroid says it has more than 8 million users and operates GPU-based infrastructure across 28 data centres in Europe, North America and South America. Whale TV said its operating system is deployed across more than 400 TV brands and supports 45 million monthly active TVs globally.
